Starlink, the satellite internet connection provider company under the management of SpaceX is a brand that has been talked about a lot lately along with Tesla because of the online meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the owner of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk.
Last week, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim requested that the government purchase a number of Starlink satellite dishes to be installed in local higher education institutions even though at that time, Starlink was not yet officially operating in Malaysia.
Recently, the Minister of Communications and Digital Fahmi Fadzil has granted Starlink a Network Facility and Service Provider license, and this allows the company to operate in Malaysia officially.
This is not a surprise as expected, because pre-orders for this Starlink service have already been introduced through their website since May this year. Just with this announcement, it can be said with certainty that Starlink will be operating in Malaysia soon.
By the same token, Fahmi Fadzil also said that the Starlink satellite internet service can be installed in rural areas, something that has already been done by the local satellite internet provider CONNECTme NOW.
