The government has now announced that it has agreed to provide a subsidy of RM300 for public university students for the domestic route of the Peninsular, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan. This initiative will be offered starting August 15, and is expected to benefit 56,000 public university students.
With this move, it is expected to reduce the burden especially for students in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan studying in Peninsular Malaysia – and vice versa.
This voucher offer will be subject to the condition that each student in question must come from the Peninsula, Sabah, Sarawak or Labuan and be studying in the state in question. This voucher will cover the purchase of flight tickets on Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, Firefly and MYAirlines.
The students are expected to be given a redemption date of up to 31 October 2023 for the purchase of one-way or two-way tickets for economy class flights from the place of origin and where the student is applying.
We will hear more about the terms of this voucher on July 15, 2023, when it will be offered later.
