Last month we reported that Tumblr was developing a Twitter-like design for their website. Today, Tumblr has shared more about the upcoming changes to the social media platform owned by the company behind WordPress.
Tumblr is aware that the current site is difficult to use compared to other social media platforms. Among the plans is that the feed on the main page will be displayed with new content every time it is opened. A search engine that is more user-friendly and easier to find content is also wanted by Tumblr in a new update.
Tumblr also realized that the existing Following tab was outdated and that users and content creators weren't getting enough exposure. This led to Tumblr's next plan to integrate an algorithm that could suggest content according to a user's tastes.
Based on what was shared, Tumblr wants to use algorithmic concepts like TikTok or Instagram on their platform, while retaining users for a longer period. At the moment it is still uncertain when this change will be made. Together we look forward to the development of the new phase of Tumblr under the same owner as WordPress.
