UiTM Kuala Pilah Becomes The First Location To Be Installed With Starlink In Malaysia

The government had previously announced that it would install Starlink in 10 UiTM campuses across the country. Continuing from that, now the first Starlink unit in Malaysia has already been installed at UiTM Kuala Pilah.

With this installation, the government aims to improve internet network coverage on the campus compared to before. It is used as a temporary measure pending a larger allocation to install WiFi access points on the campus. The Minister of Communications and Digital also stated that through SKMM's investigation, it was found that there are various blind spots around the UiTM Kuala Pilah campus.

In addition to educational institutions, the government will also identify some locations of schools and government clinics that need satellite internet assistance and use Starlink there.

Despite using Starlink, the government also emphasizes that local service providers are not left out, and will continue to be improved.

Previously, Starlink had been offered in Malaysia, with a monthly subscription of RM220 for speeds of up to 100Mbps, in addition to having to purchase equipment in advance at a price starting at RM2300.
