The Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil today announced that UiTM will receive 10 Starlink units in an effort to improve internet services and quality on the campus. However, for now, it has not been specified which campuses will receive Starlink.
This partnership follows on from the recent service license handover to Starlink. The Prime Minister himself has stated that he will test Starlink in universities and institutes of higher learning first to increase internet access.
Starlink is a service under SpaceX, where it transmits the internet through satellites, while ensuring that it also covers the interior - something that is difficult if you have to build the infrastructure as usual.
For now, the cost involved for this Starlink is still unknown for the public user. Starlink's official website still displays interest registration only, and does not yet state the cost for users in Malaysia.
