AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 Introduced With Full Support By Multiple Graphics Cards

Shortly after NVIDIA introduced an update to their DLSS 3.5 frame enhancement technology, AMD also updated their FSR technology, namely FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 Fluid Motion.

AMD FSR 3 simply helps in increasing the number of frames in computer games to allow computer games to be played more smoothly at high resolutions, similar to what NVIDIA offers through DLSS 3.

The most significant difference is that where Frame Generation technology can only be used by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 graphics cards, FSR 3 can be used by various types of graphics cards, from AMD Radeon RX 6000 and RX 7000, including NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000, RTX 3000 and RTX graphics cards 2000.

For example, an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card was used to play the game Forspoken at 4K resolution and showed a frame rate of 53FPS without using FSR 3. With the FSR 3 preset set to the “Performance” level, using the upscaling feature, Fluid Motion frame processing and anti-lag, the same game can run at frame rates as high as 175 FPS.

Another test is shown, where the same game is played at 1440p resolution with ultra-high settings at a frame rate of 64FPS, and when FSR 3 technology with Fluid Motion frames and anti-lag is used, the game's frame rate increases to 106FPS without the need to use upscaling technology .

When this graphics card goes on sale, AMD says that two games will support FSR 3 Fluid Motion technology on launch day, namely Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum. Later, this technology will also be supported by more games such as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Cyberpunk 2077, “Warhammer II: Space Marine, Black Myth: Wukong and Starship Troopers: Extermination.

Initial support for FidelityFX Super Resolution will be introduced in the fourth quarter of this year.
