Apple Tests M3 Ultra Chip With 32 Core CPU And 80 Core GPU

 


The most powerful chip Apple offers to consumers is the M2 Ultra with a 24-core CPU, and a 76-core GPU. According to a report by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, the Apple M3 Ultra chip currently under development will increase performance further by adding cores to the CPU and GPU.



Gurman says the M3 Ultra chip will be equipped with a 32-core CPU and an 80-core GPU. It will most likely go to the new Mac Pro and Mac Studio for tasks that require high processing power by the end of 2024.


In comparison, a regular Apple M3 chip will only be equipped with an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. This chip will be given to MacBook Air 13″ and MacBook Pro 13″. These two new MacBook models will probably go on sale starting this October. Meanwhile, the Apple M3 Pro chip is believed to be equipped with a 14-core CPU and a 32-core GPU. Lastly, the Apple M3 Max with a 16-core CPU and a 40-core GPU.
