Atari 2600+ Relaunched With HDMI Connection

The Atari 2600 console was launched almost five decades ago. It's an iconic console because it has joystick-type controls and a wooden-like construction. Yesterday in conjunction with the Gamescon event, the Atari 2600+ was launched as an updated model for the 2600 with the ability to connect to modern televisions.

The connection is done via the HDMI port replacing the old antenna connection on the original 1976 console. Another modern feature included is the power connection is via the USB-C port. There is also an option to display content at 4:3 or 16:9 screen ratio.

Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 game cartridges can be used on the 2600+. This means that those who once owned a 2600 can re-use the collection gathered in their youth.

The difference between the 2600 and 2600+ is that the new console is slightly smaller in size. Each Atari 2600+ is sold for $130 (~RM605) apiece and will be available for purchase in mid-November. Buyers will receive an Atari 2600+ console, a CX40+ joystick and a 10-in-1 game cartridge with games such as Adventure, Combat, Yars Revenge, and Missile Command.
