Attempted Smuggling Computer Components Using Buses Into China Busted

Incidents related to the smuggling of computer components into China are among our favorite news stories because of the creativity of these smugglers in trying to bring in these products illegally.

Recently, another incident of an attempt to smuggle in the component was thwarted by the Chinese immigration authorities. According to the ITHome report, a total of 1747 computer components, consisting of 837 pieces of processing chips, 900 sticks of RAM memory, and 10 pieces of SSD storage have been confiscated at the Chinese border in Guandong and Macau.

This time, this smuggling took place on a bus, where these components were stored in a secret storage room inside the bus. It is not confirmed how these components were found, but there is a possibility that equipment such as metal detectors or X-ray scanners were used by the immigration authorities.

Interestingly, since this bus was used for this purpose of smuggling, the Chinese government was seen to give its owner two more chances before it was confiscated for being used for illegal activities.
