"Cashless Melaka" Pilot Project Launched At Taman Seri Duyong Night Market - Offering Cashback For Digital Wallet Use

The Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) is now seen to have started a pilot project for going cashless at the night market, at the Taman Seri Duyong Night Market, Malacca. Under this pilot project, a total of 120 merchants were selected to receive payments through the use of digital wallets.

This program is part of the aspirations of the state of Melaka in becoming a smart state, under the Smart Melaka Blueprint 2035 plan.

Through this "Cashless Melaka" program, it also provides cashback incentives to users who pay using digital wallets. Among the platforms involved under this program are Touch n Go eWallet, Maybank MAE, Boost and Foodpanda.

Since it is still under the pilot program, for now, it is not known when the same program will be expanded to other areas.
