The problem with electric vehicles (EVs) is their long charging times. To fully charge the owner has to wait up to an hour. CATL which is the world's leading EV battery manufacturer announced the Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery which can provide a range of 400km after charging for 10 minutes.
Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) type battery with the ability to travel up to 700 km when fully charged. Typically LFPs have power density and cold weather capabilities that are not as good as Li-ion. Add another CATL Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery can be charged up to 80% in 30 minutes and operate at temperatures as low as -10℃.
This battery will be offered to customers from Q2 2024. Among the customers using CATL batteries at this time are Tesla, Ford, BMW, Hyundai and Geely.
