CloudNordic And AzeroCloud Hacked – Data And Backups Of Hundreds Of Companies Leaked

Hacking attacks using malware or ransomware are nothing new. Typically, hackers target companies or governments as a way to blackmail these institutions for money.

Recently, website hosting and cloud service provider companies CloudNordic and AzeroCloud have been hacked through ransomware, which has had a severe impact on hundreds of their customers who now not only have no access to their websites, but also their data those stored on cloud platforms.

This hack occurred when CloudNordic was migrating to a new data center, where the transferred data entered an internet network that was less secure than what CloudNordic owns. Hackers are seen using this opportunity to enter the company's database, and lock all the data it contains, including primary and secondary backup data.

This caused the companies that depended on CloudNordic and AzeroCloud to lose all company information, and since these companies did not want to pay a ransom for the data, the only option for them to get their data back was through physical backups and the Wayback Machine. .

Further complicating the situation for CloudNordic and AzeroCloud is that they are advising their customers to switch website and cloud service providers, as there is a high probability that this locked data will not be salvageable in the short or medium term.

Attacks on online service providers are seen as the next target for these hacker groups especially when the reason why these activities are carried out is to cause security issues on a much larger scale.
