Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo became the first Instagram user with 600 million followers. He managed to reach this historic figure today making his account the second most followed behind Instagram with 650 million followers. This means that one in 13 people on earth is a follower of his Instagram account.
His closest competitor is Lionel Messi with 480 million followers so far. Messi's following increased dramatically a few weeks ago when he joined the Inter Miami soccer team. But Ronaldo is still far ahead even though he only plays for Al Nassr football club in Saudi Arabia.
Messi may be crowned by many football fans as the best player in the world after winning the 2022 World Cup but in terms of social media followers Ronaldo is still more "siu" than him.
