This year Netflix began preventing password sharing among users who do not live at the same address. Many went berserk and said they would cancel their Netfix subscriptions. But the opposite happened with the number of new Netflix subscribers increasing by several million in the North American and South American markets.
Perhaps seeing the success of Netflix in increasing these subscribers, Disney will also begin to prevent password sharing for the Disney+ service. This was confirmed by Disney CEO Bob Iger himself during the announcement of the company's financial report last night.
Disney will begin cracking down on password-sharing practices in 2024 to boost company revenue. The Disney+ terms and conditions will be updated later this year before the password sharing ban goes into effect.
Although initially Disney+ registered a high number of subscribers, they are now facing losses as the streaming platform's offerings are less attractive. This is not helped by the fact that the income of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Disney films has not been encouraging in the last two years.
