Ericsson Selects Malaysia as 5G Radio Equipment Production Hub

 


Ericsson is one of the familiar names in Malaysia. They have been operating since 1965, and are also responsible for the development of 5G infrastructure in Malaysia today.



In addition, now Ericsson has also chosen Malaysia as a hub for the production of radio equipment for 5G use, in Penang. Ericsson also stated that this is Ericsson's first 5G production center in the Southeast Asian region.


The 5G radio that will be released by Ericsson in Malaysia is a radio with integrated Massive MIMO antenna. It will be produced in Prai, Penang. The selection of this local market is expected to contribute to the improvement of the local socio-economics.


For information, today, Ericsson's 5G network and technology powers 147 networks in 63 countries, including Malaysia through DNB.
