Haven XR, an augmented reality (XR) cinema service from Australia will open in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2024. It will be the world's first XR cinema inside a shopping mall.
The company behind KidZania and ESCAPE, Sim Leisure Group is responsible for bringing Haven XR into Malaysia. Visitors or "spectators" need to wear a headset and several sensors to experience a fully immersive experience.
Haven XR stated, their technology is based on Location Based Virtual Reality. Visitors can feel the temperature change according to the scene, the wind, there is a simulation of smell and even gravity.
The first film will be The Keeper, a horror film with a duration of 20 minutes. Haven XR is also said to be like an Escape Room, where visitors can feel real objects, do activities and missions with friends.
SLG will also open or transform a hybrid mall with a theme park. They also claim to have found a fully realistic augmented reality roller coaster concept and will open in Malaysia later as well.
