Honor Tests GMS Installed On Their Devices In China

In China, all Android smartphones do not have Google Mobile Services (GMS) installed. Usually the seller will offer it as a sideload after the device is purchased. Therefore users in China use the device manufacturer's app stores or those provided by third parties.

Most recently, Honor is seen to officially offer GMS in China on Chinese market devices. This information is obtained through the MagicOS beta test registration form for selected Honor devices. So far the listed devices are Honor Magic V2, Honor Magic V2 Ultimate Edition, Honor Magic 5, Honor Magic 5 Pro and Honor Magic 5 Ultimate Edition. There is an “other” option that suggests Honor may be planning to offer GMS on older model devices.

With GMS installed, devices from China can be exported to other countries with easier funds at the same time users from China can use the Play Store when traveling abroad.

This is not surprising because some Chinese-made devices with operating systems without GMS already have Google Play Services and some built-in Google system services have simply been turned off. Examples are Oppo, OnePlus, realme and Xiaomi have third-party applications that easily perform this GMS installation.
