The fastest memory for mobile devices is now moving to SK Hynix's Low Power Double Data Rate 5 Turbo (LPDDR5T) developed in collaboration with MediaTek. The LPDDR5T RAM module managed to record a data transfer speed of 9.6 Gbps, compared to 8.5 Gbps on LPDDR5X released by Samsung last year.
This increase of around 15% will allow the device to operate faster and the application will also work more smoothly. LPDDR5T was developed by both companies since last January. According to SK Hynix, they managed to achieve this fast speed even though the industry predicts that it can only be done using the LPDDR6 format which is expected to appear in 2026.
The first processing chip to be paired with LPDDR5T is the yet-to-be-announced new-generation MediaTek Dimensity chip. Maybe next year we can see devices with Dimensity chips dominating the benchmark charts because of faster memory usage.
