Meta Messenger Will Support End-to-End Encryption Later This Year

The end-to-end encryption (E2EE) feature ensures that sent messages cannot be read by those who want to intercept them. To Meta Messenger users, the E2EE feature will finally be supported by default by the end of this year. According to Meta at this time it has been tested on selected users with them having to activate it first.

When activated later, messages sent through Messenger will have the same level of security as previously supported by WhatsApp. Despite the encryption, Meta said up to 100 features on Messenger have been upgraded to ensure its use will remain as smooth as it was before E2EE was activated.
