New York also Bans TikTok on Government Employees' Devices

New York City has banned the TikTok application on devices issued to public servants. Employees are given 30 days to delete the app on their official devices. After that period access to applications and websites will be blocked directly from accessing the internet on these devices.

The move was taken on the grounds that TikTok allegedly shared user data with the Chinese government. TikTok in an official statement issued today once again denied that they gave access to US user data to the Chinese government.

The movement to ban TikTok in the United States was started during the administration of Donald Trump which caused a new entity to open in the country. U.S. user data has also been transferred to browsers operated by Oracle. Although Trump has been replaced by Joe Biden, the U.S. still insists that TikTok poses a security risk with some states banning it from the devices of public servants.
