What are the best selling phone models in 2023? According to data recently reported by Omdia, all 10 best-selling smartphones in H1 2023 were produced by Apple and Samsung alone. iPhone 14 Pro Max is the hottest device with 26.5 million shipped followed by iPhone 14 Pro (21 million), iPhone 14 (16.5 million) and iPhone 13 (15.5 million).
After that in fifth place are Samsung Galaxy A14 (12.4 million), Galaxy S23 Ultra (9.6 million), Galaxy A14 5G (9.0 million), Galaxy A54 5G (8.8 million), Galaxy A34 5G (7.1 million) and iPhone 11 (6.9 million). The dominance of these two brands is surprising because last year there were still Redmi devices in the top 10 best-selling list.
Most interesting about Omdia's report is that Apple's best-selling device is their most premium model, the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 on the other hand recorded more sales than the Galaxy S23 Ultra even though it was a base model device with only a dual camera. While the iPhone 11, which is quite old, is still able to enter the top 10 best-selling list.
The year 2023 is very challenging for all smartphone manufacturers. iPhone sales are confirmed to be down according to Apple's financial report and Samsung posted a sharp reduction in revenue. After the pandemic, many consumers are still not spending money to buy a new smartphone.
