Over 50% of Active Satellites in Space Now Operated by SpaceX

Starlink started their operations in Malaysia last week with the first 10 satellite internet receiver units given to UiTM. Today there is a report from The New York Times that says more than 50% of active satellites in space are now operated by SpaceX which is the parent company of Starlink.

So far more than 4500 Starlink satellites have been launched by SpaceX. Starlink plans to place 42,000 satellites around the earth to enable them to offer Internet services to all corners of the earth. This brought concern to some world leaders who saw that Starlink wanted to monopolize internet services using the world's satellites.

As we have previously reported, the European Union (EU) has already started efforts to launch their own satellite network as an alternative to Starlink. In Malaysia, CONNECTme NOW and Angkasa-X also offer the same service. Competition is good for people because it keeps prices competitive and innovation continues.
