The Sony PlayStation 5 received Beta software this week that brings some interesting features that weren't previously supported. Through it, the PS5 will finally be able to support the Dolby Atmos audio system. This is important for those who use the console as an entertainment system to stream content with Dolby Atmos audio.
Also provided is an update that allows the console to accept SSDs with up to 8TB of storage. Previously the SSD limit was only 4TB. For those with children, a new feature allows a second DualSense controller to be used to assist the player controlling the DualSense for the first player. Both DualSense now control the same character. When necessary the second player can help the first player.
Next there is a feature to turn off the loud "beep" sound every time the PS5 is turned on. For those who like to play PS5 at night, this sound will no longer disturb others who are sleeping.
Finally users can finally search for video games in a personal catalog by typing them. Previously games could only be listed in alphabetical order. If a user has hundreds of games, finding the game they want to play is quite a hassle.
This PS5 Beta software is only available in certain markets. For other PS5 users, they will have to wait for the full update to be given to enjoy these features.
