Samsung today is ready to offer up to 200-megapixel sensor options, and moving forward they are expected to continue to present sensors at higher resolution rates. According to the latest rumors coming to the web arena, Samsung is said to be developing some new sensors, reaching up to 440-megapixels.
It is said that several high-powered sensors are in development, including the 50MP GN6, 200MP HP7, 320MP sensor and even the 440MP HU1.
For now, it is not yet known whether these sensors will be targeted for use in phones or in automotives. However, some early info shows that the 50MP sensor will come with a 1-inch recording sensor - at the same time competing with Sony's existing offerings.
For information, in 2020, Samsung has officially stated that it wants to develop an imaging sensor up to 600-megapixel, parallel to the human eye which is said to have a use of around 500-megapixel.
