Samsung's Delayed AR Headset Design Leaked

After Apple Vision Pro was shown at WWDC last June, the landscape of AR headsets changed dramatically. Apple produced headsets with enough amazing capabilities that it emerged that Samsung had to delay the launch of their AR headset for six months.

Today a design that is claimed to be a prototype of Samsung's AR headset has been leaked to the web arena via Brad Lynch's tweet. The headset has a relatively thin design on the front but no secondary screen like the Vision Pro. It is equipped with two RGB cameras on the outside and can track the wearer's finger which allows the headset to be used without physical controls.

Exynos 2200 processor with AMD RDNA2 GPU is believed to be used in this headset. Additional known information is that the battery pack is placed behind the head to make it more balanced and comfortable to wear.

It is not known how true this information is. Samsung previously announced a partnership with Google and Qualcomm to launch the XR headset. So the report using the Exynis 2200 chip is a little strange. Samsung was one of the first to offer a headset through the Galaxy Gear VR with Oculus technology. New models are no longer offered since 2017.
