Shopee Wants to Continue to Improve Diversification in the Merchant Arena – Rivaling the TikTok Shop

 


Sea, the parent company behind the popular merchant website Shopee has now stated that they will continue to increase their investment in the retail arena in various markets – especially in keeping up with competition from TikTok.


As many understand, TikTok is now starting to receive the attention of many parties through the TikTok Shop. Various users are also seen flocking to the platform to make purchases – in addition to the attention paid to sellers in conducting live broadcasts and special content on TikTok for buying and selling matters.


For your information, Shopee has started selling support via live video since 2019, but it is facing challenges from TikTok. In contrast to Shopee, many flock to TikTok for content and various daily updates – and the TikTok Shop integration is seen to lead to more buying through it, compared to what Shopee provides.


Sea aims to focus on increasing the level of public usage of the Shopee platform, including through direct selling, short videos, and also affiliate programs with influencers.


It is also hoped that this increase in investment will impact Shopee's revenue in future annual terms.
