The Government Wants to Speed Up the Implementation of the National Digital Identity Project

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has now shared that the Fourth National Digital Economy and Industrial Revolution Council (MED4IRN) has agreed to speed up the implementation of the National Digital Identity Development Project (IDN) under the National Registration Department (JPN).

Previously, the initial target for the implementation of the National Digital Identity was in 2024. With this new announcement, it is no longer known the new date of implementation or pilot testing for it.

Through the use of IDN, it is expected to facilitate a number of things, especially self-verification digitally based on only one single source. It was also emphasized that the IDN is not a replacement for MyKad, but rather the use of a digital identity that complements the use of the existing MyKad for use in the digital arena.
