Threads Now Has 3 Million Daily Active Users – 82% Less Than Its Peak

A month ago Threads was launched by Meta when the situation on Twitter (now X) was in turmoil with various problems to access. In just one week, Threads managed to register 100 million user accounts at the same time making it a real competitor to Twitter.

Today according to a report by SensorTower, Threads has only 3 million daily active users corresponding to an 82% reduction in active users during peak hours. The average time spent by users also dropped to 2.9 minutes per day compared to 19 minutes per day.

In a town fall session with Meta staff last week, Mark Zuckerberg said they have "less than half" of active users of the total account. The real situation appears to be more serious than reported.

From the very beginning Threads said it did not want to be a serious news and political discussion site like Twitter. The use of an algorithmic timeline without a timeline for followed accounts has left many early adopters who migrated from Twitter now discouraged.
