X Granted Exemption To Use Single Alphabet Name In App Store

X (formerly Twitter) is now listed in the App Store. Apple gave a special dispensation for X to display their apps that only had one alphabet whereas previous store guidelines said apps had to have at least two alphabets.

Twitter's change to X was made by Elon Musk last week starting with the web version before being extended to the smartphone app as well. They were initially prevented from using the X name in the App Store due to Apple's guidelines. Additionally, the X headquarters in San Francisco has also ditched the Twitter branding and the iconic blue bird logo which has been replaced by a giant X logo on the roof.

Under Elon Musk, X will usher in a new era as a super app that will eventually support payments, purchases, and watching video content. It's Elon Musk's vision since he was still with PayPal more than two decades ago.
