X Will Request Identification Card For Account Verification

X seems to be getting serious about cracking down on bot accounts. They first introduced account verification with a blue smear through the X Pro subscription last year. Most recently, they will ask for the user's ID card or other official identification document for additional verification of the user's account. Not only that, users also need to take a live selfie to confirm the image on the document is the same as their own face.

X appears to be using a third party, namely Au10tix, to verify this account. When verification is done with an official identity card, the profile will display the notification "This account is ID verified". It will be another layer of security for account verification especially for celebrities.

One of the issues with X Blue is that anyone can open an account with blue paint. Whether the identity of the alleged owner is true is a mystery because there is no official confirmation. In other words, X's identity verification system is now the same as Twitter Verified verification, which was discontinued after the company was taken over by Elon Musk.
