X (formerly Twitter) recently tested a blue smudge-hiding feature given to X Blue (formerly Twitter Blue) customers. This feature is provided for those who do not wish to be identified as X Blue customers for certain reasons. This feature is offered to select X Blue users only at this time.
To access this feature go into the application settings, select “Blue”, select “Preferences”, select “Authentication” and select “Blue check mark”. In this setting you can hide the blue smear marks.
Strangely enough, according to X when you hide this blue smudge some features may be turned off but it is not revealed which features. In my tests this feature can be used on Android, while some users seem to be able to use it on iOS.
