Two years after Xiaomi CyberDog was launched, today Xiaomi CyberDog 2 was launched. This time the cyber dog has a smaller size because according to Xiaomi the original model scares children. In terms of size, it is smaller than the Golden Retriever breed.
CyberDog 2 only weighs 8.9 kg and is 36.7cm long. Although smaller it is smarter and more complex with 12 motors to allow it to move at a speed of 1.6 m/s. Xiaomi says they developed their own electric motor for CyberDog 2 to meet their needs. One of the new features that CyberDog 2 can do is to do backflips many times.
In addition, CyberDog 2 is smarter because it can stand up again quickly if it falls. Artificial intelligence has been used with pre-trained virtual models to allow these dogs to operate without issues in the real world.
The NX chip processor with 21 TOPS capabilities is the brain of this robot. Meanwhile various sensors of 2D camera, 3D camera, LiDAR, RGB camera, ToF, RGB, UWB and more are included on the body of CyberDog 2. Unlike the original CyberDog, CyberDog 2 is now offered in blue, yellow and black.
In China Xiaomi CyberDog 2 is sold at a price of RMB 12,999 (~RM8,266) only and it will be offered as a robotics development platform in limited quantities.
