YouTube Shorts Receives Six New Features To Compete With TikTok

YouTube today introduced six new features for Shorts that you can use to create more interesting content and gather inspiration for your own videos. The first feature is Collab which allows other users' videos to be used in their own videos like the Duet feature on TikTok. Other users' videos can be compiled using a number of templates provided by YouTube. This feature will be present on the iOS app first before arriving on Android.

Next are interactive stickers that can be placed inside the video. Questions can be asked to the audience and they can answer them directly in the sticker. This can be used to generate ideas for the next video by YouTube content producers.

YouTube also introduced live streaming for vertical videos. Live streaming videos can be viewed on the Shorts tab with standard Super Chat features and Super Stickers can be used in these vertical videos. It will be rolled out to all users in stages.

There is also automation for audio and special effects to produce Shorts. If you like the audio and special effects used on the Shorts video you are watching, press the Remix button and both will be activated for you to make your own Shorts. You no longer need to search for audio and special effects manually.

A new tool was also introduced by YouTube to convert an uploaded horizontal video to a vertical video for Shorts. Screen ratio, cropping and zooming can be accessed using a new tool that will be launched in just a few weeks.

Finally, video shorts can now be saved in their own playlist just like saving other YouTube videos.
