YouTube updated its guidelines regarding videos containing health and medical information. Videos that deny the validity of proven effective treatments, expose fake approved alternative treatments and deny the existence of some diseases will be removed from the platform.
In the early stages, videos involving cancer will be removed if they violate the three guidelines above. This step was taken because YouTube realized they were a platform for getting information about various diseases. The dissemination of false information is no longer justified because it can endanger the lives of patients. The pandemic has shown that the spread of health information that is not based on science is dangerous.
Before this when the YouTube pandemic simply exposed the label and prevented the spread from being made but the video was not shut down. With the video platform now a source of proper information about various diseases, the time has come for YouTube to get serious about tackling the problem of facts that don't align with modern scientific knowledge on their platform.
