Various streaming services are now looking at integrating advertising into their offerings – both keeping costs down for users, and allowing them to generate additional revenue beyond just subscriptions.
After Disney+ Hotstar and Netflix announced advertising integration, now Amazon has announced the same for Prime Video.
According to Amazon, starting in 2024 they will start integrating advertising for users in several countries. In addition, a slightly higher priced ad-free plan will also be introduced around the same period.
Amazon also stated that the advertising display rate will be lower than traditional TV broadcasts or their other competitors.
For now, it is not known whether the Malaysian market will also be introduced to advertising support as early as 2024 or not.
