Usually when people ask me what is a good alternative to Chromebooks or budget laptops my answer is the iPad. However, Apple no longer sees the iPad as a replacement for laptops. Apple is now reportedly developing an affordable MacBook to compete with Chromebooks.
Chromebooks are affordable laptops that run Chrome OS. Since Covid, this platform has become popular among students and underprivileged users. Apple is said to be interested in competing in this category and will introduce laptops that compete with the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro series.
This laptop is said to still be built from iron construction materials but separate components. This affordable MacBook may also be an iPad in laptop form as we ourselves have reported that the Magic Keyboard for the new iPad Pro will be made of aluminum.
Chromebooks on the market now are usually the most popular ones priced around $300 or RM1500 or less. If Apple wants to come up with a Chromebook competitor, it should be priced around $400 or RM2000 or less. Maybe there will be a March of Mercy?
