Chrome Is Now 15 Years Old – Announcing a Number of Updates, Including Material Design

Google today celebrates the 15th anniversary of their popular web browser, Chrome. Having been introduced since 2008, Chrome is now one of the main web browsers of many people's choice, while Chromium also powers various other web browsers on the market, including Microsoft Edge.

Google says they still stick to Chrome's original vision, which is to make it a fast, reliable, secure and easy-to-use web browser.

Along with the 15th anniversary celebration, Google also announced some new things that are coming. One of them is Material Design design support for the web browser – which will also offer a number of new color theme options and can be set according to the user's taste.

In addition, the Chrome Web Store will also be given a new breath in line with Material Design - and make it easier for users to find new plugins to add features to their respective web browsers.

Google also said they want to make searching even easier, and will allow users to pin Google Search to the side of the web browser for quick access. This is expected to be the basis before Google integrates artificial intelligence capabilities as implemented by a number of other web browsers.

These and more features, including a focus on safety and security will be added to Google in the coming weeks. Anyway, while we look forward to those features, let's celebrate Chrome's 15th anniversary today!
