The market for mobile games (first) is now bigger than that of PCs and consoles. Access to the premiere is easier and games can be downloaded for free. Coda today publishes a report on the most popular premieres in the West and East. A more interesting report is to see which perma is the most interesting for users in Malaysia.
According to a poll involving 3600 respondents in nine markets, in Malaysia the most popular first is Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (11.7%) followed by PUBG Mobile (10.9%) and Call of Duty: Mobile (7.2%). Also revealed is that first-time fans in Malaysia spend an average of RM 121 in a three-month period on the games they are interested in. This puts Malaysia ahead of Indonesia (RM114) and the Philippines (RM65) but behind Thailand (RM270).
In-app purchases were higher among Malaysian female gamers who spent RM127 compared to males who spent RM54 over a three-month period. Only 38% of first-time fans in Malaysia admit to spending more than 16 hours a week on their favorite game. This is lower than 40% in Western countries, Thailand (45%), Indonesia (43%) and the Philippines (40%).
In comparison, the most popular games in Eastern countries are Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile and Free Fire. Meanwhile in Western countries the most popular games are Call of Duty: Mobile, Free Fire and FIFA. Another interesting thing is that players in Eastern countries buy cosmetic items for the characters they play but in the West players prefer to buy character level upgrades.
