Disney+ Starts Blocking Password Sharing In Canada

Disney+ begins blocking password sharing for users in Canada. An email started going out to customers reminding them that the Disney+ service will only be accessible to users sitting in the same home issue starting November 1, 2023.

This is definitely an attempt by Disney to see the public's reaction before expanding it to other markets. Netflix's move to prevent password sharing caused their subscription numbers to increase. This is contrary to predictions that their actions will cause many to leave their platforms.

With the success of Netflix, other streaming platforms will also do the same in the near future. There is no word on whether Disney+ Canada will also introduce additional profiles for users who sit outside the household like Netflix has done.
