Foodpanda lays off a number of employees in the Southeast Asia region

Delivery Hero, the company behind FoodPanda, has stated that they are in the process of selling FoodPanda's operations in Southeast Asia. Apart from that, now they have also confirmed that they are laying off a number of FoodPanda employees in the region.

For now, the number of affected employees is not specified. FoodPanda previously prepared to reduce their workforce in this region in September 2022 and also in February 2023. This is the third time FoodPanda has done the process of reducing the workforce in this region within a period of one year.

FoodPanda stated that this workforce reduction measure is in an effort to make them more efficient and make their operations more structured. This workforce reduction does not involve FoodPanda's delivery partners, and is more about its management and operations department only.

This workforce reduction comes alongside reports stating that FoodPanda operations in the region are in discussions to be sold to several potential parties. It is not specified with whom the discussions are being held, and among the names mentioned to take over is Grab.
