George Zhao – Impossible For Honor To Return To Huawei

Honor moved on its own in 202o after leaving Huawei which was their parent company before that. Huawei is selling Honor to ensure that its business partners and supply chain are not affected by the sanctions imposed by the United States on it. Recently there were speculations in China that Honor will return with Huawei. George Zhao Ming, CEO of Honor has denied this speculation to the Chinese media.

Zhao said it was impossible for Honor to return to the Huawei fold. However, he is happy with the success of his return because the re-appearance of Huawei is good for the smartphone industry, making it more dynamic due to public perception that it is now boring. At IFA 2023, Zhao also congratulated Huawei for returning to producing its own devices.

It doesn't make sense for Honor to come back under Huawei as they will also be banned. Since moving on its own Honor has filled the void left by Huawei with them becoming the number one manufacturer in China. In Malaysia Honor currently holds 10% of the market helped by devices with attractive designs, flagship chips and GMS support unlike Huawei.
