Google Develops Microscope With AI That Detects Cancer Faster

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has already caused humans to lose their jobs and is seen to cause the destruction of civilization if not curbed. Today there is some positive news about the use of AI that can save human lives. Google and the US Department of Defense (DoD) have reportedly developed a microscope with AI that can detect diseases such as cancer faster.

A total of thirteen Augmented Reality Microscopes (ARM) have been developed that look like ordinary microscopes but are connected to a computer. It performs real-time detection of the image being viewed under the microscope. When detecting a cancer cell, it will be displayed on the screen with a line complete with the classification of its level of seriousness.

With this, cancer cells can be detected automatically without human involvement. Currently the cost of producing an ARM is between $90,000-$100,000. (~RM422,00 – RM470,000) Google shared the algorithm used for the detection of mitosis, prostate cancer, cervical cancer and breast cancer.

Previously in 2020, Google's AI has successfully detected breast cancer cells and Microsoft's AI has detected cervical cancer cells faster than humans.
