Grab is now reported as one of the companies that may take over FoodPanda's operations in Malaysia, and several other nearby countries – including Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and several other countries.
According to Delivery Hero, the company behind the FoodPanda brand, they are in discussions to sell part of their Asian business. However, it is not specified who the parties involved are.
According to initial reports, the sale price of FoodPanda's operation is expected to be worth more than RM4.99 billion (€1 billion). For now, Grab has not released any comments related to this latest speculation and report.
For information, previously, in 2018, Grab took over the operation of Uber Eats in Malaysia. It seems that, if this latest report is accurate, we will be able to see Grab taking on their closest competitor in the food delivery arena, while continuing to strengthen their position in the arena.
