A total of 12 highways have stated that they will implement a pilot test of an open payment system this September, allowing people to make payments using credit and debit cards – as an alternative to Touch n Go cards.
The latest to implement it is the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) which operates under Prolintas. Also before this, Prolintas has gradually activated the same feature on the AKLEH Expressway.
With this measure, users who forgot to top up their TNG card can continue to pay using a debit or credit card, which is expected to reduce congestion at toll plazas due to top-up problems.
Previously, various other highways have also conducted pilot tests for this open payment system, including at SPRINT, DUKE, LDP, BESRAYA, MEX and others.
