iOS, iPadOS, and macOS Updated to Spot Pegasus Spying App Vulnerability

Apple is providing updates for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and macOS operating systems today to patch a zero-day vulnerability that allows devices to be spied on using the Pegasus malware. This vulnerability was discovered by Citizen Lab who reported it today. To Apple device owners, please update to iOS 16.6.1, iPadOS 16.6.1, macOS Ventura 13.5.2 and watchOS 9.6.2.

Pegasus, developed by NSO Group, is a spying software that is of concern to users because it was found on devices owned by NGOs, journalists, politicians, businessmen and activists. It was also found on the device belonging to Jamal Kashoggi, the journalist who was later killed by the Saudi Arabian government.

It has been revealed that NSO Group has been sued by several large companies such as Apple and its use has been banned in several countries. Previously, reports emerged that Pegasus was used by the Israeli government to seek cooperation with several countries including Saudi Arabia, which officially does not have diplomatic relations with the Zionist regime.
