iPhone 15 Series Supports Qi2 Wireless Charging

Earlier this year we reported that Apple and the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) were working together to develop the Qi2 protocol. It is developed based on MagSafe technology, has a "Magnetic Power Profile" feature and will be supported on Android devices.

During the launch of the iPhone 15 series earlier this morning, Apple confirmed that in addition to MagSafe, each iPhone 15 also supports the Qi2 standard. Even so, Apple says that MagSafe will provide 15W of power and Qi2 is still limited to 7.5W only. Not sure if there will be a software update or not because there are some accessory manufacturers stating that their Qi2 accessories will later support 15W on the iPhone.

It's just that for now the iPhone 15 has not yet received Qi2 recognition. Qi2 is also expected to fix the problem of inconsistent charging power. For example MagSafe now on iPhone supports 15W and on Android around 10W only. But Android devices with a magnetic frame, it goes down to just 5W.

There are currently no Qi2 accessories for sale. There are several reports on the Internet stating that it will only be available around the end of this year.
