MAS Allows Passengers to Bring Their Own Food Due to Catering Issues

The difference between flying MAS and Air Asia is that food will usually be provided because it is included in the ticket price. According to the TMI report, MAS announced that their passengers were given the option to bring their own food supplies on board because of the catering issue they are currently facing.

Catering issues caused several MAS flights to be canceled this week after they terminated their contract with their supplier Brahim's Food Services (BFS). After 26 years of using BFS services, MAS now uses services from eight different catering companies.

Although passengers are allowed to bring their own food, they still have to meet the safety guidelines of liquid, aerosol and gel limits set earlier. Liquids for example are still limited to 100ml while food that can be heated by itself is also not allowed.
