The Mercedes-Benz CLA was shown today at the IAA Mobility 2023 event, with it being their first entry-level electric vehicle (EV) concept after only producing high-end EVs. The CLA is a battery-equipped four-door sedan that has a battery that can provide a range of up to 750 km WLTP.
It is their first EV to use the new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform. This system is based on the power trend of Vision EQXX which uses power more efficiently to set a world record of 1200km on a single charge. There are two battery options with silicon oxide anode batteries for the high performance version and LFP for the entry class.
With the same system, the CLA supports 250 kW DC charging which is capable of providing an operating distance of 400km after being charged for only 15 minutes. On the cockpit side, it maintains the use of the MBUX giant screen and the MB.OS operating system.
Like the Vovol EX90, the CLA concept has a feature to detect the presence of passengers in the cabin. If the vehicle is parked in a parking area with a passenger in the back, it will give a warning so that the issue of children being left behind can be avoided.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA will be the basis for four new CLA series vehicles which will consist of a four-door coupé, a shooting brake and two more SUVs in the near future.
