Three years ago, Meta tried to make it easier for Facebook and Instagram users to communicate, by allowing users to send messages to each other using any Facebook or Instagram application. This is accomplished by Meta through its cross-platform messaging feature.
Anyway, now Meta seems to want to end the support as early as mid-October 2023. This matter was shared through an Instagram screen recording stating that users can no longer send messages to friends on Facebook or Messenger using the Instagram application.
Meta gave no reason why this feature would not continue. This leaves those hoping to be able to use one app to send Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp messages disappointed. Among the speculations of this feature being discontinued are security and privacy issues that Meta may be violating in the United States.
Although there is no cross-platform support for messaging, at least Meta has offered more or less the same features for easy sharing of Stories, Reels and others. What do you say about this? Are you using this cross-platform feature?
