Microsoft has now announced that WordPad will no longer be updated, and will be removed via a future Windows update.
For those who are not familiar with WordPad, it comes built into the Windows operating system, and can be used to open .doc, .rtf, and even .txt format files.
WordPad was officially introduced around 28 years ago, through Windows 95. Since then, WordPad has been included in various recent versions of Windows.
With this termination, Microsoft encourages users to use Microsoft Word to open .doc and .rtf format documents, while Notepad to open .txt documents.
In addition to WordPad, previously Microsoft has also reduced some of the built-in software that is present in Windows - in addition to providing facilities for users to remove a number of software and applications that are present in the operating system.
